One-Day Workshop

Three-Part Bradel Binding

Monday 7th July 2025

Hull Scrapstore 10:00am – 4:30pm

£65 per person including materials

This one-day workshop is suitable for the beginner to bookbinding as well as those with some experience. All materials and tools will be provided
There are several methods of making a Bradel Binding, which is a European approach to a case binding and a little different from how we traditional do it in the UK. This version incorporates a spine which is applied to the book before the two boards are attached, which is why it is sometimes referred to as a three-part version of the Bradel Binding. It is actually a rather nice style of book and is popular with past workshop participants.
There are a maximum of ten places available so booking is essential. A non-refundable deposit of £30 is required when booking (PayPal link below), the rest (£35) being payable on the day by cash or cheque (sorry, cards are not accepted). Direct bank transfer may alternatively be used by prior agreement.
All the materials and tools required will be provided, as will tea/coffee and biscuits. You will need to bring your own lunch, though there are shops a short walk away. For this workshop it may be useful if you could bring along an apron and/or old towel as we will be using PVA glue in the book’s construction.
